Decision to dismiss the mayor was not made overnight
In a media conference held in the premises of Serbian Progressive Party in Uzice, initiated by the replacing of the current city mayor, commissioner of the City Committee Ivana Stojilkovic said:
“The City Committee meeting was held yesterday. The main topic was the importance of making decision by which our party reassessed the work of its position holders on all levels in the whole Serbia. These moves are something new in our political scene and we hope that all others parties will follow our example and start from themselves in critic, if they want to improve our city and our country.
Proposals for replacement of mayors of Uzice and Kraljevo are the results of those analyses, and the conclusion is that they could work better and do more for their fellow citizens. Sasa Milosevic will carry on the position of the City Major till the end of this calendar year and till all the work related to it is done. Mostly it refers to concluding the city budget for the next year. That is the reason why this party won’t come out with the name of new candidates until all the work is done, which will be in January.
It is also important to emphasize that there is no any crisis inside the leading coalition but there will also be a number of meetings with the partners in order to agree in attitudes. Our party has the position of mayor and he will be chosen from the current aldermen. After the decision of replacing the current mayor, we should think about it thoroughly and wisely, and finally decide who will be the new mayor. When the SPP make the decision we will inform the citizens of Uzice, and it will be in January the latest. We are sure that the Presidency of our party will suggest the best candidate and the Council will give the best consultation.
In the end I want to remember our citizens that we gave our full support to Aleksandar Vucic on elections for the president of the party. From that you can see that in our Council there is no one who is related to Vladimir Cvijan. All insinuations about the divisions in our Council make no sense. On this occasion I want to ask once more not to make any more rumors, and to remember everyone that we are open for any kind of cooperation. Anything that you want, just ask our City Council.”, said Stojilkovic.
